I received this as a Christmas gift in 2011 and have put this product to the test. I am a bike commuter and my weekly school rides (when I carry my Mac) are around 25-30 miles a week and this case has kept up with all the hustle and bustle going on inside my bag.

Pros:

Slim design does not take up valuable bag space

Hold the MacBook in very securely

The material on the outside is tough and stain resistant (well proven)

Semi-ridid plastic sides prevent anything with sharp corners from doing damage

Elastic strap makes casing and uncasing the Mac extremely fast

Design is simple yet beautiful, red stitching on the sides provides an elegant touch

Cons:

Because this case has an opening in the top there is always the back of the mind fear that something could get inside it. This has never happened since I have been using the case, but it could annoy some people.

Conclusion:

This case is worth every penny. It will stand up to almost anything you throw at it. The functionality is near perfect and the simple design is very attractive.

I am currently using this skinny sleeve on my macBook pro 13inch, and i love it. I have the original one that does not have retina display, but the retina display one is even thinner than the macbook by a little so they both fit perfect. I got this sleeve because i do not like big cases with the shoulder straps and all those zippers that scratch the Macs. I am a college student and I carry my Mac everywhere with me in my backpack for convenience and its my luck because with this sleeve it does not add any weight at all to your luggage so its good in every way and the padding is great. its not any cheap type of cloth or anything, it has great quality and i would definetely reccommend it to everybody if you want your Mac to be safe and last a long time. theres also a reason why the apple store themselves also even sell this sleeve in their countertops because they know quality and want to give the best to their customers to keep them coming back. except you'll save about 10 to 20 dollars by shopping online for this same product.

I use this for my Dell XPS 12 and it fits fine. It's not as thin as I expected though. There's an extra layer of protection added inside that you can feel which most people would want, but personally I never drop my laptop while carrying it so I would prefer a thinner sleeve.

It's perfect for storing your laptop in a backpack, messenger bag or just carrying around the house. It's really not thick enough to offer much drop protection but it's ideal for protecting your laptop against bumps and scratches.
